As with all of you I have been shocked by the events that unfolded in Christchurch last week and our thoughts and aroha are with the families and loved ones of the lost and injured. New Zealand is such a small country and there will be many across our school communities who are directly or indirectly impacted upon.

Many of you will have got behind the Colour Your Day event as a way of paying your respects and to help support the Christchurch community. If you did not or are wanting to support further, the APPA can assist you making contact with a Christchurch school if you need. The APPA has made a donation to the Canterbury Principals’ Association to help them support their members the best way they see fit, and I know through my contact with them, they truly appreciate the support they are receiving from all over the country. The people within this region have had to show such resilience over a long period of time and I feel it is important to acknowledge the special role that all the school staff play in supporting their students, families and communities through an incredibly tough time.

The deadline for APPA submission for the Tomorrows School Review is fast looming and just a reminder that we are meeting at Flanshaw Road School on Tuesday 26th March at 9.30 to put a submission together. If you would like to take part in this please RSVP to Sue Gibbons at by no later than today, Friday 22 March 2019.

If you would like to submit any material ahead of the meeting, please click on the link below to add this to the Google doc.

We will do our best to take all of the perspectives expressed in your cluster submissions into account but may not be able to put a draft out to the members prior to the submission date purely due to time constraints. If you or your staff would like to contribute you can do so by either filling in the survey at , giving a verbal submission by phoning 0800 367 877, or by writing your own submission and sending it to .
